Air hybrid firm expects production in 2011

Scuderi Group expects to complete its first proof-of-concept prototype split-cycle air hybrid gasoline engine this autumn. It could start series production in 2011. The US firm says it achieves much higher efficiency and lower emissions than conventional engines, without the cost or complexity of diesel or hybrid electric powertrains. Scuderi wants to license the technology to OEMs.
