Autodesk set for plastic simulation

Autodesk is injecting moulding simulation into its software suite. It is buying specialist firm Moldflow, whose software lets engineers optimise plastic parts throughout the design and manufacture process. The $297 million cash deal should close by the end of June. Sometime after that Moldflow will become part of Autodesk's Digital Prototyping package. Autodesk CEO Carl Bass said: "Moldflow brings strong analysis and simulation capabilities to our Digital Prototyping package. We will support and integrate Moldflow
