BRIC builds in 2007

Worldwide sales of cars increased last year by 2.3 million units to 49.2 million units. But the biggest markets were either down or stagnant. The Japanese market fell by 4.7 per cent, the US, Canada and Mexico by two per cent, and western Europe was flat, with an increase of just 0.2 per cent. In total, the traditional big-volume markets were down by almost 400,000 units.
