Li-ion plant powers up for series production

Pilot production has started at Johnson Controls-Saft's battery joint-venture in Nersac, France. It is Europe's first industrial plant dedicated to series volumes of lithium-ion batteries for hybrid vehicles.rnThe market for such batteries and vehicles will grow significantly in the next few years. The technology will aid OEMs' efforts to improve fuel economy and are becoming increasingly popular among environmentally conscious buyers. Most car companies have some sort of hybrid or electric vehicle R&D programme.
