Takata deploys new airbag design

Tier One supplier Takata has developed an airbag concept for future urban mobility vehicles. The hoodbag has been designed to be compatible with concept vehicles with fighter jet-style cabins, such as the VW Nils and Opel RAK e. The concept integrates the airbag into the seat's headrest, improving safety and addressing packaging issues associated with traditional airbag design. Takata said: "As OEMs push the boundaries of vehicle design and the definition of urban mobility, traditional airbag systems no longer become feasible.
