Improving efficiency is forcing engineers to look at every aspect of vehicle design, including steering. Electric power-steering systems have been used in both small and mid-sized vehicles, but they are also moving into the larger vehicles and SUVs. Daimler, BMW and Audi as well as numerous Tier One suppliers will discuss the advantages of electric power-steering systems, the potential and limitations of the technology, examine integration challenges, define what optimal steering performance should be, and look at the impact of functional safety systems.
