As the industry moves towards reductions in vehicle weight, alternative materials will become more widely used. Composites are already employed to great effect in high-perfor mance cars. Using such materials more widely in high volume vehicles would help OEMs to improve efficiency. Speakers from BMW will discuss material use in the OEM's Project i electric vehicles.
