Textile reinforced thermoplastic composites for use in the transport, automotive or aerospace industry

A variable thickness, flat textile-reinforced composite with a thermoplastic matrix, comprising pore-free main coating layers (A) and intermediate coating layers (B), is used for the preparation of moulded products in a reshaping machine or press.The composite contains at least one variable thickness layer (B) comprising an optionally textile-reinforced thermoplastic polymer or compatibilised polymer. At least one main layer (A) comprises a consolidated fibrous structure, woven fabric, knit or unidirectional yarn tow with a basis weight of 200-800 g/m2 impregnated with at least one thermoplastic polymer which is the same as that used for the base polymer in the matrix or which is compatible with this base polymer. Layers (A) and (B) are in intimate contact with each other.
