At the moment, the main vehicle networks are CANbus running at 500kb/s, Flexrayat 10Mb/s and MOST25 at 25Mb/s. They're all fairly slow compared to what's found in the consumer industry. The general trend as car buyers want more features in their vehicles is that networks are going to have to move forward on to similar rates to what we see in the consumer electronics industry. I can envisage more 100-200Mb/s networks - there's MOST150 already at 150Mb/s. Then I can see demand for data transfer rates moving into lGb/s and multiple gigabits per second within the next few years.
