However good the driver, mistakes are inevitable and these can cause accidents. Being tired, distracted or just too slow in hitting the brakes can result in collisions with the vehicle in front or perhaps a pedestrian stepping into the road from behind a parked car. Cameras can help to support the driver. Not just for functions such as lane departure warning or lane keep assist systems, but increasingly for autonomous emergency braking too.
