Tier One Continental has developed ultra-low rolling resistance tyres for electric vehicles. For EVs to be successful, every possible efficiency gain must be exploited in order to maximise battery range - the supplier claims that its latest tyres can deliver a 10% increase. The firm said: "Mainly responsible for the gain in distance is the unusual tyre diameter. Deformation decreases when the tyre approaches the contact patch, resulting in greatly diminished resistance to rolling.
