Buyers of premium vehicles should be able to take refinement for granted but for practicality they may opt for an estate car. Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all make estate variants of their sedans - the A6,5 Series and E-Class. But it has taken Jaguar four years to develop an estate version of its best-selling XF, The sedan was launched in 2008 and accounted for 60% of Jaguar's sales of 51,818 cars last year.
