The market for high-performance compact cars has held up well during the recent tumultuous economic period. Most OEMs still have a hot hatch in their line-up, The segment includes well-known vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Ford Focus ST and Opel-Vauxhall Astra OPC. Honda will launch a new variant of its Civic Type R in 2015. But Kia has only recently developed a vehicle to compete with these: the Pro_cee'd GT, The car uses a turbocharged 1,6-litre, direct-injection gasoline engine which produces 150kW/265Nm and powers up to lOOkm/h in 7.3 seconds. The powertrain is based on Kia's Gamma engine platform.
