The task of developing engines to meet current and future emissions legislation is incredibly challenging. But it becomes considerably more difficult when engines also have to be integrated in both transverse and longitudinal applications, as well as in front-, rear- and all-wheel drive vehicle variants. Engineers at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) had to not only meet the needs of various installations for its family of new engines, but also develop them so they could be used in vehicles as diverse as luxury sedans, used for chauffeuring passengers, as well as SUVs used on and off road.
