A Regulations are already in place for commercial vehicles, so the first steps towards legislating driver assistance systems in all vehicles around the world is already there. Since November last year, new commercial vehicles in Europe had to be fitted with lane-departure warning systems and automatic emergency braking, and over the next 10 years we see that spreading to passenger vehicles as well in Europe and North America, The governments on both sides of the Atlantic have shown that regulations are underway - and our best guess is that this will start appearing from 2018/19 to be in place by 2022.
