Tier One supplier Preh has developed the battery-management unit and cell-supervising sensor units for BMW's i3 electric city car. The controllers monitor the cells' state of health and state of charge. Honeywell is supplying the turbos for Ferrari's F14 T Formula One car. The technology enables the 1.6-litre to V6 to match the power of the obsolete V8s.
