The requirements for the typical modern vehicle architecture to deliver are numerous, Some of these requirements are legally obliged, while others are simply expected by the driving public in order for the various vehicles developed to be considered appealing and so to be competitive in their respective segments, Design goals for a number of vehicles on the same platform must be considered simultaneously, while the performance of each is affected by many variables, such as the tyres, chassis or vehicle structure. Not only are the number of requirements increasing, they also tend to conflict with each other so that meeting one can be to the detriment of another. For instance, improving crash safety will inevitably affect the comfort-related aspects of the driving experience.
