Kia launches eight-speed automatic transmission

Kia has introduced its new eight-speed automatic transmission, engineered for use in front-wheel drive vehicles.The development programme, which began in 2012, led the OEM to patent 143 new technologies. The front-wheel drive 8AT, developed in-house by the company, enables a high level of mechanical efficiency and smooth gearshifts. It occupies the same space as a conventional six-speed automatictransmission and weighs 3.5kg less.
