How often in an engineer's career will they be asked to push the limits of what power and torque a combustion engine can produce? Many will have worked on hot hatchback, sports car and even supercar programmes, but few will have been given the opportunity to really push an engine to the limits. At the same time it's also more difficult for vehicle programmes to grab our attention as we become more used to the higher levels of power and torque produced by four-cylinder units, V6s, V8s and even larger engines. But one firm continues to raise eyebrows.
