Daimler approves alternative fuels for heavy-duty engines

Daimler has approved the use of alternative fuels for its heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle engines.It means that its 10.7-litre OM 470 and 12.8-litre OM 471 units will be able to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil, biomass to liquid, gas to liquid and coal to liquid. The engines have been approved for use with alternative fuels according to norm prEN 15940 and should help lower local emissions such as particulate matter, NOx, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
