Hexcel strengthens and lightens the 7 Series

The latest-generation BMW 7 Series benefits from carbon-fibre reinforced plastic technology supplied by Hexcel. The CFRP technology is used to save weight, leading to reduced CO., emissions, as well as to reinforce the metal shell of the B-pillar. The overall strength, torsional stiffness and bending stiffness of the passenger cell is increased, and the configuration of sheet metal elements can be adjusted as required to allow further weight reductions.
