Audi uses AMOLEDs in virtual cockpit

Audi will use active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) technology in the next generation of its digital instrument cluster.The first generation of the system - known as the virtual cockpit-is used in vehicles including the TT sports car and D-segment A4 sedan, and has an LED display. The second-generation technology has been in development for two years, and will be used first in the OEM's larger vehicles, such as the A8 limousine.The move to AMOLEDs will give engineers and designers more freedom, and will also increase efficiency, as they require less power.
