Automotive Aerodynamic Tests in Wind Tunnels with Moving Belt

It is generally accepted that a moving ground plane reproduces the correct flow fields around a car including the underbldy flow and the flow around rotating wheels. This paper presents a ground simulation of an automotive wind tunnel with a moving belt. Comparative aerodynamic force measurements on 1/5 scale models have been performed between seven Japanese model wind tunnels with a fixed ground and a moving ground plane.
