Pumped storage power plants were barely constructed in the last 20 years because the economic basis was missing. Since the demand for electricity rose and the liberalisation of the European electricity market took place, the pumped storage power plants immediately became important again. Also the KELAG (energy supplier in Carinthia) developed an economically resourceful project embedded in an existing hydro-power scheme. The project is already on it's way. Within developing this project it was even possible to find a new and innovative solution for the design of the pressure tunnel.%In den letzten 20 Jahren wurden kaum mehr Pumpspeicherkraftwerke errichtet-die wirtschaftliche Grundlage fehlte. Mit Änderung der Bedarfslage und der Liberalisierung des Europäischen Strommarktes bekam die Pumpspeicherung schlagartig wieder Bedeutung. Auch bei der KELAG -Kärntner Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft hat man ein wirtschaftlich sinnvolles Pumpspeicherprojekt innerhalb einer bestehenden Kraftwerksgruppe entwickelt, welches sich bereits im Bau befindet. Im Zuge der Projektsentwicklung war es auch möglich, eine innovative Ausbaulösung für den Druckstollen umzusetzen.
