摘要

Large glazed spaces (such as atria) have become a common feature of high quality commercial buildings. The implications of the use of these features for the air conditioning system designers are considerable. The thermal performance of glazed spaces in buildings is a complex issue requiring analysis of turbulent natural convective heat transfer in large enclosures. To date, no simple design method has been developed to predict important parameters such as the contaminant dispersal and temperature distribution within a multistorey atrium or the overheating that may occur in the upper levels of such a large space.
