NEW CAPS FOR AFP RECRUITS

The new caps were introduced to make it easier to distinguish recruits from fully sworn personnel undertaking instructional and assessment duties. This is important as recruit training courses are increasingly assessment oriented, involving hands-on scenarios. Having the same headdress also removes a potential barrier between recruit cohorts, as operational caps and peak caps for AFP police and PSOs are different. Receiving the operational caps at the time of their graduation also helps to add to a tangible sense of achievement for recruits.
