In the Journal's first issue, published in May 1986, Robert Hesketh wrote about 'Restructuring the industry authority (the AWBC)' and in the third issue, published November 1986, Mark McKenzie penned an article entitled 'Wine industry finds Government taxing'... For better or worse, however, some things have changed. Probably 'for worse' in regard to issue one's varietal report on Sauvignon Blanc which claimed that this varietal's 'previous lack of popularity in Australia can be put down to public taste..., but 'for better' with volume three's varietal report on Pinot Noiof Australia's esteemedr, quoting one wine writers on Australian and New Zealand Pinot Noir: 'a consistent disappointment... the majority of the wine produced lacks colour, body, flavour and, above all else, style. You have to be told it's Pinot Noir, and then you have to make excuses for it..'
