Memoriam - Elizabeth Essex-Cohen

Dr Elizabeth Essex-Cohen, one of Australia's leading space physicists died from cancer on 21 March 2004. Most commonly known professionally as Elizabeth Essex, she was one of the first women in Australia to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in physics. She gained international recognition as a first class ionospheric physicist with her pioneering work using the global positioning satellite (GPS) system to study the ionosphere and plasmasphere.
