摘要

Community rights, conservation and contested lands: the politics of natural resource governance in Africa is a collaborative effort produced through the IUCN's Southern Africa Sustainable Use Specialist Group. Fred Nelson, the editor of this ambitious and comprehensive volume of critical case studies, has done a great job at pulling together the 14 valuable contributions. The different contributors certainly add depth and credibility to the volume. Indigenous non-governmental organisation (NGO) activists, local and overseas field practitioners, and academics offer important global but, especially, local perspectives.
