The Senate Standing Committee on Environment, Communications and the Arts is conducting an inquiry into the management of Australia's waste streams.rnThe Committee is due to report back to the Senate by August 2008.rnThe inquiry will examine trends in waste production in Australia, the effectiveness of existing strategies, and the economic, environmental and social benefits and costs of such strategies.rnThe inquiry will examine:rn1. trends in waste production in Australia across household, consumer, commercial and industrial waste streams;rn2. effectiveness of existing strategies to reduce, recover or reuse waste from different waste streams.
