摘要

In 2016, the Sioux Tribes' legal challenge and protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) in North Dakota, US became a topic of international media concern.1 Dakota Access, LLC is the corporate entity developing the DAPL. The DAPL is a 1172-mile pipeline designed to transport crude oil from the fields near Stanley, North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois. The Sioux Tribes oppose the DAPL to prevent it from crossing under Lake Oahe, a reservoir on the Missouri River from which they source their drinking water.
