摘要

Increasing participation in social, economic, andncommunity life is considered to be one of the definingnprinciples of an inclusive society and a key aspirationnfor the Australian Federal Government. Central tonthis principle is the ability to build the capacity ofnindividuals and groups to develop connectedness, andnto engage in decision-making. Participation such as thisnimproves individual well-being and the well-being andnprosperity of the communities in which individualsnlearn, work and play. A prerequisite for participation,ninclusion, and informed citizenship is the ability tondevelop knowledge from information about the social,neconomic, and comnnunity dimensions through whichnmodern Australian society is constituted.
