Little has changed in the U.S. digital still camera (DSC) market in 2006. Pricing continues to fall, along with margins, while features continue to advance generally as well as in sheer numbers. Retailers say consumers are looking for models with the largest pixel counts in the million-pixel (megapixel) range, as well as for models with the largest LCD screens. At the same time, manufacturers and retailers say an increasing number of consumers are shifting to digital single-lens reflex (D-SLR) cameras. Typically retailers sell the D-SLR cameras separately from the lenses, an approach that translates into higher margins.
