Final Session of Roundtable Conference on Nuclear Policy

On February 7, the seventh and final session of the Atomic Energy Commission's Roundtable Conference on Nuclear Policy was held in Tokyo. Future safety regulation and energy supply were discussed, with the guests including Tatsuya Murakami, mayor of Tokai-mura. The Roundtable Conference was continued during the current fiscal year (April 1, 1999 to March 31, 2000), based on a recommendation from the conference held during the previous fiscal year, in order to address nuclear fuel cycle and waste disposal issues.
