The draft nuclear-related budgets for the Science and Technology Agency (STA) and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) for FY2000 have been finalized. STA's requests totaled ¥321.457 billion (down 4.7% from FY99) — ¥174.310 billion (down 4.4%) in the general account, and ¥147.147 billion (down 5%) in the special account for power-source development. Meanwhile, MITI's requests totaled ¥152 billion (up 15.4%) — ¥300 million (up 6.7%) in the general account and ¥151.690 billion (up 15.5%) in the special account — a substantial increase from FY99.
