PROBLEMS OF DEVELOPING NUCLEAR POWER

The entire world is concerned with the problem of stable energy supply in the next few decades. The leading countries have come to a unanimous conclusion: such a large increase in the production of electricity can be achieved only by developing nuclear power. But the limited uranium resources cannot supply the fuel for the required number of water moderated and cooled reactors. As specialists assert, this problem can be solved by using fast reactors operating on ura-nium-plutonium fuel in a closed nuclear fuel cycle. Specifically, this is clearly stated in the title of the second international conference held in November 2007 in Moscow: "Development of Nuclear Power Based on a Closed Nuclear Fuel Cycle with Fast Reactors."
