The technical aspects of the making of the nuclear industry in our country, beginning with the preparatory stages and throughout all of fifty years, are inextricable linked with the solution of difficult medical-biological problems. The problems fac- ing medicine changed during these long years, and certain general conclusions and results became possible only after some time had passed, experience had been accumulated, and familiarity with similar work performed by scientists and doctors in other countries was gained.
