Reactor with an external neutron source for safe nuclear power and the possibility of making a model of an electronuclear apparatus

The possibility is discussed of constructing a 200-MW nuclear power installation utilizing a high-temperature gas-cooled subcritical reactor in which a chain reaction is initiated by an external neutron source. Such a source can be obtained by irradiating targets made of various substances with an intense beam of charged particles accelerated in a linear RF accelerator. The reactor and the accelerator are located in an underground chamber.
