Japan and Korea strive to build a new landscape in the textile and fashion world

Japan and Korea are poised to carve themselves a niche in the textile and clothing industry in the wake of economic downturn. Korea is pledged to take the lead in the field of functional textiles with its experience and advanced technology. And Japan is determined to rebuild its fashion culture amidst the wave of "fast fashion". According Korea Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI), not only is Korea the world's sixth textile exporter (global market share of 2%), but also the second biggest knitted fabric exporter (14.3%), the second largest chemical fiber cloth exporter (8.1%), and the sixth biggest chemical fiber producer (3.9%), as of statistics of 2008.
