Technical textile plays a key role in Europe

European Apparel and Textile Confederation (EURATEX) has recently organized the annual public general assembly in Brussels, Belgium. The theme of the session was "Global Markets -Challenge & Opportunity for European Technical Textiles", aiming at promoting a wide discussion about one of the most dynamic and fastest growing segments of the textile and clothing industry: technical textiles.According to EURATEX, during the first quarter of the year, the Extra-EU Exports have an 8.1% increase in value and a 6.8% rise in volume. Meanwhile, imports have decreased by 10.1% in volume and by 5.8% in value. In 2011, the EU external trade was more dynamic than the previous years with Euro 38.7 billion of textile and clothing products exported worldwide or nearly 22% of the total turnover while Euro 93 billion were imported from Third markets.
