South Korea Appears Set to Remain a Favorite

It is rare for fund managers, economists and market strategists to agree on the same investment, but that isn't the case with Korea. As a regional investment destination, the South Ko-rean stock market contin-ues to be the favorite of both buy-side investors and both buy-side investors and sell-side brokers and investment banks, outshining the former darlings China, Taiwan and to a lesser extent, Singapore. There are a few big risks, but according to these Korea fans, it still isn't too crowded to get in. "The typical investment story is to sell the best-performing market of last year and buy the dog of last year," says Didier Devreese, chief investment officer of ING Investment Management Asia Pacific in Singapore. "But we would not do this with Korea at this time."
