The green bubble machine

During the 17th century, the first big speculative bubbles burst in the Netherlands. This was known as the great 'Tulip Bulb' fiasco, which was fuelled by stupidity made possible by the relatively sudden creation of a monied middle class in Holland due to its then leading position as a global centre for trade and finance. At this very moment we are witnessing the staged development of a global bubble, a sort of 'fools-gold' rush revolving around the current green energy madness which includes renewables, sustain-ables and other environmental solutions.
