China's environment issues must be its top priority

The Chinese government is seeking a 'green' recovery path out of the current global financial crisis which has damaged global trade which has resulted in the severe financial downturn of many export led business across China. It is reported that the government has decided to assess the performance of its government officials not just by how fast they managed to spur economic growth in China but also by the environmental soundness of that growth.
