Low levels of energy efficiency continue to hound Taiwan, pushing its leaders to look closer to home for ways to reduce its heavy dependence on imports. Two points shy of complete electricity reliance on its neighbours, the island country's high dependence on the outside world has been gradually increasing over the years, and is expected to continue to grow, unless immediately acted upon.
