Randwick Navy Training Facility Ready to Kick-Off

The Australian government announced the completion of the A$24 million ($16.25 million) extension of the Navy Training Systems Centre at Randwick Barracks by St Hilliers, in time for the first Navy training course that commenced January this year. Minister for Defence Industry, Melissa Price said the new facilities will support specialised training for crews of the two new Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment ships being procured for the Royal Australian Navy. "The training centre extension includes specialist training rooms and simulators to train Navy's crews in how to operate and maintain the new Supply Class vessels," Price said. "These works are the first to be completed under the Navy Capability Infrastructure Sub-programme, which involves approximately A$2 billion ($1.35 billion) of new facilities and infrastructure works to be delivered across Australia over the next seven years.
