Indonesian, US Exereise Garuda Shield in East Java

The annual bilateral exercise hosted by Tentara Negara Indonesia (TNI) was successfully held in early September with the United States Army. Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division based in Washington State, the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Hawaii Army National Guard, and the 25th Combat Aviation Brigade, 25th Infantry Division trained alongside soldiers of the TNI 2nd Kostrad Infantry Division for the month-long exercise Garuda Shield to foster cooperation and understanding. The exercise saw the participation of over 200 personnel from TNI-AD's aviation wing, Penerbad, and 103 personnel from their US counterpart. The exercise also involved the use of 15 aircraft, among them being four Bell 412, two BO-105, two MI-35, one Ml -17V5, four 4 AH-64 Apache, one UH-60 Black Hawk and one HH-60 Hawk.
