Struggling pay TV operator MiTV is abandoning its pay TV operations and intends to focus on launching 3G services in 1Q07, having failed to make any impression on pay TV market leader As-tro's subscriber numbers since launching its digital-terrestrial service in September 2005, according to local sources. Reports say that MiTV has fired about 200 workers, two-thirds of its total work force, and that it plans to cease all sales and marketing activity and to transmit only a skeleton pay TV service of 12 channels until it launches 3G services next year, at which point it might cease broadcast operations completely.
