China Mobile to champion TD-SCDMA

In a significant blow, mobile market leader China Mobile might have to carry the burden of launching a potentially troublesome nationwide TD-SCDMA network alongside a far more desirable WCDMA network, according to local analysts.rn"We have just talked to all government agencies, such as State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ministry of Information Industry and the National Development and Reform Commission, as well equipment vendors," CLSA analyst Elinor Leung says. "It has been consensus that CM will do a TD-SCDMA trial network. CM will lead the rollout of a TD-SCDMA network trial in 10 more cities. It is still testing out data applications on TD-SCDMA."
