Globe to deploy 1 million FTTH connections this year

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has announced plans to deploy 1 million FTTH lines this year. Globe earlier announced a PHP 70 billion expansion program for this year to deliver internet connectivity across the country.As part of its home broadband modernization project, Globe's remaining copper lines will be upgraded to fiber, the operator said. Globe also reports that it has been reaching out to its qualified Globe At Home customers connected to old and obsolete facilities that migration efforts are underway with no added cost to the customer. Fiber upgrades are being done for free by authorized Globe technicians. Once upgraded, customers can expect their modems to be upgraded as well, the company also said.
