SingTel plans to launch 4G by end of 2011

SingTel (Singapore Telecommunications) announced plans to unveil a new 4G cellular mobile network in the nation before the end of this year, wherein it will roll out 200 base transceiver stations in order to enhance multimedia services. According to SingTel CEO Allen Lew, the company wants to increase the share of ICT/ multimedia revenues to over 50 percent of its overall earnings in the next three to five years. He added that this initial investment into 4G services is modest, especially in light of the fact that SingTel spends $809.1 million on its infrastructure.
